How to add a Pinterest widget to your website

Do you already have a Pinterest widget with the Follow button on your blog? Or you may want to install it but have no idea how to do it.

Honestly, I’ve wanted to do this before, but only recently did I take some time and try to install it. When I saw how simple it was, I decided to share it with you.

So today I want to show you the easiest way to add the Pinterest widget to your blog. You will need to follow the instructions below and you will complete it quickly.

But first I want to explain to you what the Pinterest widget is and why you need it on your blog.

Imagine clicking on a blog post that you like. There is an internal link in it that leads you to the next post where you also find valuable information. And then you want to check and follow the Pinterest profile associated with that blog.

But, you realize that you should enter the Pinterest app and search for that particular Pinterest profile through a Pinterest search box.

What would you do in that case?

You would most likely give up and move on in search of valuable information that interests you.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can make your blog Pinterest friendly, make your Pinterest business profile easier to access.

And that’s why we come to the conclusion that your blog should have a Pinterest widget.

What is a widget on Pinterest?

A Pinterest widget is a visual box showing your profile and latest pins with included Follow me button.

You can place it to a sidebar on your WordPress so it is easier for your readers to follow you on Pinterest.

There are 2 types of Pinterest widgets that you can install on your blog: Pinterest profile widget and Pinterest board widget. We will explain each of them so you can decide which one to choose for your blog.

What is a Pinterest profile widget?

A Pinterest profile widget shows you

  • your Pinterest business profile (which can be clicked so that your audience can easily reach your Pinterest profile),
  • the latest pins you have saved to all your boards (your pins and other people’s pins), and
  • Pinterest follow button.

What is a Pinterest board widget?

A Pinterest board widget shows you

  • your Pinterest business profile (which can be clicked so that your audience can easily reach your Pinterest profile),
  • the latest pins you have saved to one of your boards (can be your pins and other people’s pins, but most often it’s your main blog board), and
  • Pinterest follow button.

The only difference between the profile widget and the board widget is that if you use the board widget, you definitely want to choose your main blog board with your content that you want to promote and share with your audience. And that’s why the widget will contain only your content and your pins from your main blog board on the Pinterest profile.

So which widget you choose depends solely on you – it’s your decision.

Now follow the instructions on how to install the Pinterest widget on your WordPress blog.

We will start with the Pinterest profile widget first and after that we will explain how to install the Pinterest board widget.

Note that steps 4 and 5 are the same for installing both widgets!
